Timber Bridge Information

A timber bridge is the opportunity to set your development apart; to create a signature crossing with an inherently beautiful and strong material.  At YBC, our bridges are not only a beautiful alternative, but are durable and guaranteed to last - all vehicular bridges come with a standard 10 year written structural warranty.

The longevity and durability of timber is unparalleled: properly treated timber will not crumble like concrete, will not rust like steel and can be used in any environment regardless of climate.

Capacities:  YBC's vehicular bridges meet the same structural requirements as any other bridge material. All vehicular bridges are built to AASHTO HS20-44 highway bridge specifications (or greater when required), which have been previously approved by DOT's.

Longevity:  The life expectancy of a bridge designed to AASHTO design specifications is at least 50 years - this is the basis of the AASHTO Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges . YBC combines these AASHTO-based designs with our use of upgraded materials and treatments, elevated craftsmanship standards and our nearly 25 years of experience to create a long-lasting structure that requires minimal maintenance. The knowledge gained from YBC's experience designing and constructing Timber Vehicular Bridges ensures your bridge will stand the test of time.

Versatility:  All York Timber Vehicular Bridges are built on your site, creating a custom bridge which can cross almost any terrain – lakes, rivers, highways, elevation changes are no problem. Also unlike many other bridge types, you can also customize the appearance of your bridge with various types of guiderails, lumber types (including composites), span types, as well as many other options. You can also further enhance this unique structure by choosing a covered bridge.  You will not be limited to only a few options due to the inflexibility of the material.

Time savings:  The lead time and limited availability of concrete may be constraining; steel must be fabricated.  Timber, a readily available resource, will not delay your project. YBC's comprehensive pre-construction process is the basis for our on-time delivery of products.

Superior Materials:  At YBC, superior materials are standard. Over the last several years, we have sought out the highest quality materials while maintaining a cost effective product. Materials are chosen for the specific purpose of increasing the longevity of the bridge and decreasing the maintenance required on the bridge.
