Atlantic Beach Connections Built By York Bridge Concepts in Florida

York Bridge Concepts partnered with Atlantic Beach Country Club to design and construct multiple custom timber structures as part of the transformation of one of Northeast Florida's most prestigious golf and residential communities. Located in Atlantic Beach, Florida, the redevelopment of the former Selva Marina Country Club created a modern private club experience featuring a championship golf course, luxury residences, and an extensive collection of community amenities.

As part of this ambitious redevelopment, York Bridge Concepts delivered several custom timber crossings, including a double-lane HS20-44 vehicular bridge, a free-span pedestrian bridge, and additional timber structures throughout the property. Each bridge was designed through the Decero™ Design-Engineer-Build process to complement the club's architectural vision while enhancing connectivity throughout the community.

The result is a collection of structures that seamlessly blend functionality, craftsmanship, and timeless aesthetics within one of Florida's premier country club environments.

Reimagining a Coastal Country Club

The redevelopment of Atlantic Beach Country Club represented a complete transformation of the historic property.

The project included:

  • 155 residential home sites
  • A new championship golf course
  • Modern clubhouse facilities
  • Recreational amenities
  • Enhanced landscape features
  • Waterway crossings and pedestrian connections

Every component of the community was designed to create an elevated residential and golf experience while preserving the natural beauty of the coastal environment.

York Bridge Concepts' bridges became an important part of that vision.

Custom Timber Infrastructure Throughout the Community

Rather than serving as isolated structures, the bridges were designed as integrated elements of the overall master plan.

The collection of crossings helps:

  • Connect community amenities
  • Improve pedestrian circulation
  • Enhance golf course accessibility
  • Create scenic viewpoints
  • Increase property value
  • Establish a cohesive architectural identity

The structures contribute to the overall character of the community while providing practical benefits for residents and club members.

A Signature Free-Span Pedestrian Bridge

One of the standout features of the project is the free-span pedestrian bridge that crosses a scenic lake within the community.

Designed to provide safe and convenient access while maximizing visual appeal, the bridge offers residents and visitors an opportunity to experience the landscape from a unique perspective.

The bridge's elegant proportions and custom detailing create a refined appearance that complements the upscale nature of the country club environment.

Its placement along the waterfront enhances both circulation and the overall outdoor experience.

Free-Span Engineering Advantages

The pedestrian bridge utilizes a free-span design, meaning the structure crosses the waterway without intermediate supports.

This approach offers several important benefits.

Unobstructed Water Views

The bridge preserves open sightlines across the lake and surrounding landscape.

Reduced Environmental Impact

Fewer foundations minimize disturbances to aquatic environments.

Enhanced Aesthetics

The clean span creates a more elegant and visually appealing structure.

Simplified Maintenance

Eliminating intermediate supports can reduce future maintenance requirements.

The free-span configuration allowed York Bridge Concepts to deliver both engineering efficiency and architectural beauty.

Decero™ Design-Engineer-Build Process

Every York Bridge Concepts project is developed using the Decero™ Design philosophy.

This integrated approach evaluates:

  • Site conditions
  • Architectural goals
  • Community character
  • Environmental considerations
  • User experience
  • Long-term performance requirements

For Atlantic Beach Country Club, the design team created structures that complement the refined coastal atmosphere of the community while providing dependable performance for decades to come.

York Bridge Concepts' experience in marine and coastal construction helped ensure long-term durability while maintaining the bridges' architectural appeal.
