The Town Village Vehicular Bridge stands as a signature example of how infrastructure can unite communities while respecting the natural environment. Located between Marietta and Kennesaw, Georgia, this custom-designed timber bridge provides a critical connection between the Town Village mixed-use development and the vibrant retail, dining, and entertainment destinations surrounding Town Center Mall.
Separated by a broad creek corridor and floodplain, the two developments required a crossing solution that could overcome significant environmental and engineering challenges without compromising the area's natural character. Through York Bridge Concepts' Decero™ Design-Engineer-Build process, the project team created a one-of-a-kind 250-foot-long vehicular bridge that delivers functionality, beauty, and environmental sensitivity in a single structure.
Bridging a Challenging Floodplain
One of the greatest challenges facing the project was the expansive creek and floodplain that separated Town Village from neighboring destinations.
Traditional crossing methods would have required extensive site disturbance and environmental impacts. Instead, YBC developed a custom bridge solution that minimized disruption while providing a durable and visually striking connection.
The result is a double-lane vehicular bridge that spans approximately 250 feet across the floodplain, creating seamless access between residential, retail, and recreational destinations.
By preserving the natural flow of the creek and minimizing impacts within the floodplain, the bridge demonstrates how thoughtful engineering can support development while protecting valuable environmental resources.
